Tips To Visit Paris

2/3/10

Paris is a wonderful city, perhaps the best of all you could visit, but always before you arrive for the first time to a place, it is advisable to know a number of essential tips to go well and without problems for a city like this, and more when it belongs to another country different from ours. It depends on how many days we are going to spend, some tips are more interesting than others.

If you live in Europe, you won't have any problems with money, since as many years, most countries belong to the euro zone, it is not necessary to apply to any currency exchange, which is always cumbersome and expensive. But don't think that even if we have the single European currency in both countries are matched on price. Not at all. While the standard of living is higher in France and especially Paris, almost all prices are higher than we can find in any Spanish city. For example, drinking a beer, coffee or cola in a simpl Parisian terrace, we can go three or four times more expensive. It is always advisable when traveling to these places, at the time of going to a bar or restaurant before you sit down, check the price lists which are usually hung at the entrances of premises to avoid last minute surprises in the bill. I speak from experience.

Not only do we find this problem on terraces and coffee drinks, but we should also be aware of that when we go to lunch or dinner. Paris is full of typical French restaurant, also called brasseries, in them we find French cuisine and menus that range in price depending on what they offer. Of course not the same lunch menu on the Champs Elysees to do it in the Latin Quarter, where prices can vary considerably. However if we want not to spend much money on meals and dinners, we always have the options of sandwiches and burgers that are cheaper, always being attentive as I said before the drinks prices which is what most raises the price. McDonalds is also in Paris, but there is no Burger King, although there is a Belgian chain that is dedicated to them called Quick the service is also very economical.

If anything characterizes Paris and France, apart from lots more of course, is its wonderful cakes and pastries. I personally recommend not going to let one of thousands of Boulangeries and Patisseries that extend into all parts of the city, where they prepare a great bread and some delicious pastries and cakes. To highlight the Pain au chocolat, a Neapolitan with an excellent liquid chocolate. Only go near one of these boulangeries and smell, and you will feel you are invited to enter.

Before leaving on an adventure, if we do not know the city, it is best done with a guide or a map and mark a path of what we see. It will be very useful when you schedule appointments and know how to move to reach them. The best thing is the meter, with which we have a quick and easy transportation to anywhere.

In Paris we find hundreds of gift shops and souvenirs, of course, always nice to have something to remember the journey took. We find from small Eiffel Towers, keyrings, t-shirts .... countless articles for all tastes and all pockets. My advice not to buy anything until we get a few days and visited several shopping areas because if we do that the first day, as soon as possible, later we will realize that there are very cheap parts and prices.
