School holidays is definitely expensive time to travel. Conversely, if we decide to escape at other times, we can save much money. In the world of supply and demand, airlines and accommodation providers raise their prices during the holidays, which complicates the task of finding cheap flights, forcing parents to pay up ... or stay home.
 

Geneva, Switzerland. With abundant snow in the Alps, Geneva is an ideal destination, as last-minute trip, for lovers of winter sports, offering more than 100 ski resorts. One of the well known is Lelex, a small resort prepared with 13 lifts, ideal for beginners. Another is Morzena stations, part of the whole Portes du Soleil, a huge ski area linked with about 650 different tracks, equipped with over 200 lifts. Travel the week after school and get brackets flights for less than a quarter of the cost during the holidays.

 Sharm el-Sheijh, Egypt. With almost guaranteed sunshine, Egypt has long been a hit for families. Avoid child invasion traveling the week before the school break and save over € 170. This gives you more to spend on diving adventures in the Red Sea, quad tours through the desert, and of course, beer.


 Orlando, Florida. Orlando will become even more popular when it opens this spring its new attraction on the famous character, Harry Potter. For now, you can avoid these crowds and school holidays; enjoy alternative attractions, or go to see alligators at Everglades National Park in Airboat. Give yourself a little luxury and go shopping in Tiffany &Co, Cartier, Jimmy Choo, or the Mall at Millennia, and then enjoy the local harvest in the Lakeridge Winery.

Dubai, UAE. Dubai is hosting a growing share of the market for family holidays, offering several theme parks for the young. Be sure to avoid all this, and the cost implied, traveling the week before the school break. This will give more money to spend on luxury shopping centers, at a breakfast with champagne, or some cheap gold nuggets in the Gold Market.





Jamaica. Jamaica has the beaches, the relaxing atmosphere and cocktails to make you forget winter depression. There are hotels for all tastes and prices, but one of the best is the Breezes Runaway Resort & Golf Club Resort, where you can stroll around and have a drink at the bar. You can also swim with dolphins, rafting, or visit the Bob Marley Museum.

Marrakech, Morocco. Marrakech has become a good place for those looking for something exotic. At the heart of the old city is Djemaa el-Fna, a square with a carnival atmosphere with performers and local posts with delicious Moroccan food. The more intrepid travelers can even leave town to Oukaimeden, located in the Atlas mountains to practice “African Ski”.

Fuerteventura, Canary Islands. You won’t have any problem finding your own little corner of Fuerteventura sun. This relaxed and peaceful island with more than 200 km. of coastline is situated on the same latitude as Florida and Mexico where temperatures stay around 23 degrees, even during winter. Put the umbrella in the sands of Jandia, a large natural beach area of about 20 km. There are also many parks, salt marshes and dunes to explore.

Paphos, Cyprus. Cyprus has a mild winter climate, where you can enjoy a few days at the beach even during these months. Unlike other island resorts like Ayia Napa, Paphos is open for business throughout the year. Furthermore, this region has around 11 beaches with blue flags, making it ideal for exploring gems like Konno Bay, Cape Greco and the Coral Bay, within walking distance.

Luqa, Malta. This small Mediterranean island is becoming a popular spot with families due to pro-child discounts, good time the whole year, and its prices. Pay a visit before the school holidays and enjoy typical Mediterranean cuisine of Malta, its attractive architecture and interesting history, that make it also an ideal place for travelers without children.
